یکی از مشهورترین رمانهای قرن نوزدهمی، «کنت مونت کریستو» است. رمانی که نه فقط در ایران بلکه برای مردم جهان اثر مشهور و محبوب به حساب میآید. رمان الکساندر دوما با پیروی کردن از سبک رماننویسی آن زمان، داستانی درباره عشق، حسادت، رقابت و انتقام گرفتن آدمها از یکدیگر را روایت میکند.
در داستان نویسنده فرانسوی، آدمها در جدال عشقی با یکدیگر مشغول دسیسهچینی علیه هم میشوند و حسادتهای شغلی، افراد را به شوریدن علیه هم تشویق میکند. این حس حسادت و نقشهچینی برای دیگران به تم اصلی رمان «کنت مونت کریستو» تبدیل شده و تا پایان داستان به شکلهای مختلف خودش را نشان میدهد.
داستان «کنت مونت کریستو» در اوایل ۱۸۰۰ میلادی میگذرد. جایی که ملوانی جوان به نام «ادموند دانتس» در روز نامزدیاش، درگیر توطئهای شوم میشود. ادموند به خاطر رابطه عاشقانه و موقعیت شغلیاش مورد حسادت دوستانش قرار میگیرد و به دلایل واهی به زندان میافتد. ادموند ناخواسته با درگیر شدن در نقشهای مملو از خیانت و فساد به مدت ۲۰ سال به زندانی سرد و تاریک میافتد. پس از سالها ماندن در سلول تاریک، ادموند به طور اتفاقی با کشیش فریا آشنا میشود که از طریق تونلی مخفی وارد سلول او میشود. کشیش نه تنها به او دانش و سواد میآموزد، بلکه راز گنج عظیمی در جزیره مونت کریستو را فاش میکند.
سالهای ماندن از زندان و همنشینی با کشیشی دانا و دانشمند، از ادموند آدمی سرسخت و هوشمند میسازد. ادموند با جمع کردن دوستانش، شرایط را برای پیدا کردن دشمنان و اجرای نقشههایش مهیا میکند. او حالا پول و قدرت برای انجام هر کاری دارد. زندگی ادموند به طور کامل تغییر کرده و او فقط به انتقام فکر میکند.
چنین داستانهایی که دستشان در پرداختن به عشق و جنونِ قدرت و ثروت آدمها باز است، جان میدهند برای اقتباس فیلم و سریال. تاکنون از رمان ماندگار دوماً چندین اقتباس صورت گرفته که همه به لطف داستانِ غنی کتاب، آثاری خوب از کار درآمدهاند. قبلاً سریالی چهار قسمتی از «کنت مونت کریستو» با نقشآفرینی ژرار دوپاردیو در دهه ۹۰ میلادی در فرانسه ساخته شده بود و حالا نسخه هشت قسمتی این سریال در سال ۲۰۲۴، نه تنها چیزی از نسخه قبلی کم ندارد، حتی در کارگردانی و بازسازی گذشته یک قدم از آن سریال جلوتر است.
سریال تا جایی که توانسته به کتاب وفادار مانده و سعی کرده چیزی را از قلم نیندازد. بازی «سم کلفلین» در نقش ادموند کم نقص است. او چه قبل از زندانی شدن و چه پس از آزادی، به خوبی میتواند شمایل جوانی خام و آدمی پخته را نشان دهد. بازی با صورت کلفلین در بسیاری از صحنهها، حسِ عصبانیت، انتقام، نفرت و عشق را نشان میدهد. انتخاب و بازی او در این نقش، به یکی از نقاط قوت سریال تبدیل میشود که به خوبی اجازه همراهی و همذاتپنداری را به مخاطب میدهد.
همچنین سایر بازیگران نیز بازی و هنرشان چیزی از کلفلین کم ندارد. تیم بازیگری سریال به شکلی یکدست و حرفهای کنار هم قرار گرفته تا قدرت تاثیرگذاری داستان را بیشتر کند. همچنین کارگردانی هنرمندانه و چشمنواز «بیله آگوست» دانمارکی به جذابیت سریال اضافه کرده است. سریال در بازسازی صحنهها و طراحی لباس و گریم بسیار موفق عمل کرده است. جایی در سریال را نمیبینیم که به خاطر سهلانگاری در طراحی صحنه یا لباس، حس گذشته را از مخاطب بگیرد. فضا به گونهای است که بیننده شخصیتها را در پاریس قرن ۱۹ باور میکند.
کارگردان برای پرداختن به سریال، مغز داستان را به خوبی حفظ کرده و اجازه نمیدهد سریال در هر قسمت با کمبود داستان مواجه شود. سریال نه تنها در طول هشت قسمت، با صحنهای اضافه و زائد پر نمیشود بلکه به شکلی صحیح حس تعلیق را ایجاد میکند. این درک درست کارگردان از داستان جهت اقتباس را نشان میدهد.
کاملاً مشخص است «آگوست» شخصیتها و فضای کتاب الکساندر دوماً را به درستی درک کرده و پس از آن تصمیم به ساختن سریالی از کتاب کرده است. این همان راز مهمی است که اقتباس فیلمسازان خارجی از رمانها را به اثری تماشایی تبدیل میکند. آنها داستان را به خوبی میفهمند و پس از آن تصمیم میگیرند به بهترین شکل اثرشان را با اقتباس از کتاب بسازند.
